Abdul the Camel is a theatrical pantomime character loved by all who meet him. Together with his crew he provides interactive workshops for children and families, interweaving storytelling, singing, movement, percussive music making, and song writing. A colourful and creative participatory activity, these activities encourage children to explore their own creativity, whilst building on musical and social skills, confidence and self expression. Abdul can also be seen at festivals and events as a ‘walk about’ character, entertaining folk where ever he roams. The Abdul Project was launched in 2000 by Caz and her band ‘Solar Charge’. She co-wrote, directed and managed a “musical-style” amateur theatrical production as a participatory community event, based around ‘Abdul’, and including musical compositions and choreographed dance.
