Following on from our wonderful visit to Heir Island in July, this next event will bring another combination of inclusive music activities this time to Kilcrohane out on the Sheeps Head peninsular.
There will be a Songwriting Workshop starting at 11am until 2pm, located at the beautiful Farranamanagh Lake, which lies nestled between the shoreline and fields. Here you will find a tranquil setting with swans and many other water birds. There is a somewhat sad folklore story attached to this place, where it is said that the King of Spain’s sons drowned in the lake and were transformed into swans. In our songwriting we will explore our own versions to this story, and create a piece together influenced by our surroundings.
You are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy here, before heading up to the village to Eileen’s Bar where I will be leading a Singing Workshop at 4pm in the back garden area where we will learn songs with harmonies, and will be joined by ‘Lost in Music’ – the Ballydehob Community Band. This is always such a treat… to get to sing alongside a full band sound.
Following the Singing Workshop we will continue on with an open music session and welcome all singers and musicians to come along and join us. Listeners and dancers of course all very welcome too! We welcome all styles of music and variety of instruments. If you’d like to get up and sing a song…here’s a welcoming and supportive place for you.
The cost of the Songwriting Workshop is E20 if booked before 6th Sept, or E25 on the day. The Singing Workshop is E10 if booked before 6th Sept, or E15 on the day. Payment secures booking.
