This page is dedicated to singing projects, although please note that there is a specific section for the Community Choir. I enjoy creating workshops, performances and events, and love to collaborate…so do give me a shout if you have an idea in mind! I am a member of The Natural Voice Network.

Feature piece:
Vocal Performance Project
‘Learn/Explore/Perform/Stretch/Develop/Create/Experience’
The Vision is to provide a ‘high-value, next-level’ experience for women who are ready to be stretched further than the average Community Choir, opening up opportunities for exploring new territory in voice work. Guest Musicians and Professionals will also feature as part of the project, with occasional stand alone workshops and events offered to the wider community. Members will enjoy diverse opportunities to perform, and the long term vision is to create a high quality choir for performance work. Original songs, and the creation of new material is very much supported within this project.
The first group started in the Autumn of 2025 meeting on Wednesdays at The Ludgate Hub in Skibbereen, with a second group being launched in January 2026 from Civic Trust House in Cork, meeting on Tuesdays. Membership re-opens at the beginning of each term, with a ‘soft auditioning’ process to ensure it’s a good fit for both parties.
SPRING TERM DATES 2026:
Skibbereen The Skibbereen group will resume on Wednesday 21st of January from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Our Special Guest this term will be Adrian Potter from Tribarac Studios (www.tribarac.com), who will be working with, and advising on our amplification needs, and to gain more insight into microphone technique. We will also be working with an original piece written by one of our members, Aisling Drummond, created in response to her experience within this group.
Cork The Cork group will be starting on Tuesday 27th January from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Our Guest Musician will be locally acclaimed folk singer, Lewis Barfoot. We will be creating a whole new vibe to her Bossa Nova style song, Ben and Mary, as well as enjoying the additional sounds of other instruments she plays within the songs we will be learning.
After more than 25 years experience in group leadership, performance work and music writing and arranging, I am very excited to be starting a dedicated performance group for the more experienced and confident singer who is ready for the next level of her journey.
The inspiration and focus for this group is:
- To bring a wide selection of songs to a high standard for performance opportunities
- Develop the voice through the exploration of techniques and styles
- Create our own unique pieces through developing our ideas and collective vocal sound
- To embody the quality and confidence of someone who wants to perform
- To bring exciting learning opportunities, drawing on guest musicians and other professionals.
This is for you if:
- You have experience of Harmony Singing and are confident to hold a line on your own
- You feel committed to being stretched and to grow
- You are excited about a project where you can move out of your comfort zone, expand and explore new territory
- You are ready to commit to a long term project and be a part of developing an exciting, quality sound for group performance
The songs will be based upon – yet not restricted to, a-capella arrangements. Members are invited to commit to an initial period of one full term or period of individual project, with a review at the end of each season.

Looking forward to sharing this exciting adventure together!

Autumn Term 2025 Skibbereen

Katrina O’Kane
Katrina is a musician, songwriter, DJ, producer, craftswoman and founder of KIN events, which is in its 3rd year, supporting original music and visual artistic collaborations. Originally from Belfast, with roots in electronic music . She performed regularly on the electronic music circuit in the North which eventually led her to learning about Sound therapy and working occasionally as an assistant sound therapist with the Sound Healing Spa before she left Belfast, deepening her understanding, love and connection with sound. She has been based in West Cork now for just over a decade and has found a wealth of inspiration and experience in the landscapes and people here.
After her mother’s passing in 2012 she made the move to West Cork—a place they had both dreamed of calling home since visiting in her childhood. There, she spent two years with a teacher who helped her navigate grief and repressed emotions. In the process, she was surprised to unlock and discover her own singing voice which she had barely expressed since childhood.
Embracing this newfound passion, she turned to singing and songwriting, not long after she founded a six piece jazz, funk, neo soul band ‘The Bella Coola’ , that gigged around west cork from 2019-2022. The passion and inspiration from the local music scene and the songwriters she was meeting along the way lead to the creation of Kin in 2023—a concert series at Arundels by the pier in idyllic Ahakista, a project dedicated to showcasing original music & art.
Katrina now writes and performs solo with a Boss RC-505 loop pedal, electric guitar, effects, and percussion, ‘weaving intricate tapestries of sound and rhythm beneath haunting, melodic vocals.’
