My Inspirations for Performing

Over the years the performance side of my work has been inspired by many styles of music, as well as being influenced by the people, singers and musicians I have had the pleasure to meet and create with along the way. This musical journey has brought me exploring a variety of ‘World Music’ such as Klezmer, African, Eastern European and a distinctly ‘Mediterranean feel’, through to Contemporary Pop, Folk, Jazz, Gospel, Celtic, Reggae, Ska, Dub and Funk. I love creating a colourful sound, blending harmonies with rhythms and grooves within a band context, and working a-capella with vocal ensembles

Many of my community music groups will have also been out in performance with me over the years, often contributing to local community festivals and events. Once we’ve created a great sound, we just can’t help but want to bring it out of the practice room and share it with others!

My own compositions often feature in these ensembles, and I love to collaborate and co-create on musical content and events. More recently I have begun to create tailor made Performance for events such as weddings and Festival Street Spectacles, providing both professional outfits and community music groups, building on ideas and topics as presented.
