This group was something of an experiment for me. A few local singers had said to me that they would love an opportunity to do something together with their children and that a combined singing group would be great fun. So we gave it a go and ran it between September-November from the Eccles Hotel, Glengarriff. I have to say it was a really lovely group and a great thing to do. We hope to start the group up again after the Easter holidays 2019. Get in touch if you’d like to be a part of it!
Just back from a leading two workshops in new areas over in East Anglia….Colchester and Weybourne – on the North Norfolk coast. The Christmas season has begun!!!
Delighted that Niki Bee is coming over to visit from Spain and bringing her wonderful creative energy with her. Niki is an artist who weaves songwriting, dance, beats, voice and guitar with spontaneity and flare! On this visit she will be leading a Flamenco Dance Workshop during the afternoon and performing some of her original songs and dance in the evening….following a session of wine tasting and tapas! I shall also be joining her with some of my own songs in the evening. Promising to be a lovely day out altogether!!
Recently I was approached about starting a choir in Glengarriff. So we decided to set up three sessions to see who we may attract!
This year I have taken the term off from leading my choirs and projects and travelled over to Portugal and Spain….for a break and some inspiration!!
I have been invited to run workshops in a few locations….here they are!
Initially these sessions were set up with forming a singing group in mind, and have now been expanded to provide a facilitated space where people can come together with others to enjoy a variety of music activities such as: playing with rhythms and body-percussion, song writing, and playing instruments alongside singing songs. These sessions are open to anyone who would like to come along, regardless of experience.
My next visit to Naas, Co. Kildare has now been confirmed for the weekend of 4th/5th November and will include an ‘Introduction to Leading Groups in Song’ Training Day on Saturday 4th from 10am-5pm. This day is aimed at anyone wishing to develop their skills in bringing singing into group work. On the Sunday we will have another Singing Workshop which will include exploring body percussion as well as discussion on the possibility of a BIG SING! event into the area next year!
