Creative Voice Project

‘Learn/Explore/Perform/Stretch/Develop/Create/Experience’

The Vision is to provide a ‘high-value, next-level’ experience for women who are ready to be stretched further than the average Community Choir, opening up opportunities for exploring new territory in voice work. Guest Musicians and Professionals will also feature as part of the project, with occasional stand alone workshops and events offered to the wider community. Members will enjoy diverse opportunities to perform, and the long term vision is to create a high quality choir for performance work. Original songs, and the creation of new material is very much supported within this project.

The first group started in the Autumn of 2025 meeting on Wednesdays at The Ludgate Hub in Skibbereen, with a second group being launched in January 2026 from Civic Trust House in Cork, meeting on Tuesdays. Membership re-opens at the beginning of each term, with a ‘soft auditioning’ process to ensure it’s a good fit for both parties.

Spring Term Dates 2026:

Skibbereen The Skibbereen group will resume on Wednesday 21st of January from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Our Special Guest this term will be Adrian Potter from Tribarac Studios, who will be working with, and advising on our amplification needs, and to gain more insight into microphone technique. We will also be working with an original piece written by one of our members, Aisling Drummond, created in response to her experience within this group.

Cork The Cork group will be starting on Tuesday 27th January from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Our Guest Musician will be locally acclaimed folk singer, Lewis Barfoot. We will be creating a whole new vibe to her Bossa Nova style song, Ben and Mary, as well as enjoying the additional sounds of other instruments she plays within the songs we will be learning.

After more than 25 years experience in group leadership, performance work and music writing and arranging, I am very excited to be starting a dedicated performance group for the more experienced and confident singer who is ready for the next level of her journey.

The inspiration and focus for this group is:

  • To bring a wide selection of songs to a high standard for performance opportunities
  • Develop the voice through the exploration of techniques and styles
  • Create our own unique pieces through developing our ideas and collective vocal sound
  • To embody the quality and confidence of someone who wants to perform
  • To bring exciting learning opportunities, drawing on guest musicians and other professionals.

This is for you if:

  • You have experience of Harmony Singing and are confident to hold a line on your own
  • You feel committed to being stretched and to grow
  • You are excited about a project where you can move out of your comfort zone, expand and explore new territory
  • You are ready to commit to a long term project and be a part of developing an exciting, quality sound for group performance

The songs will be based upon – yet not restricted to, a-capella arrangements. Members are invited to commit to an initial period of one full term or period of individual project, with a review at the end of each season.
